As part of our service offerings, we help our customers to dig out value propositions for their businesses and products. During such closed door exercise, we flood our customers with innumerable, lengthy and nagging questions till we hear something unique from them. We believe that asking the right questions unearth the right answers. If you haven’t got the answers for your business challenges, probably you have not asked yourself the hardcore questions. This hilarious and exaggerated story will highlight my point.
Three brothers left their ancestral home to make their fortunes in Dubai. During a family re-union function, the brothers started to brag about the precious gifts they had recently given to their dad.
The first brother said, “I built a huge bungalow for dad with marble from Italy.”
The second brother said, “I gifted him the latest sports car with a young chauffeur.”
The third brother exclaimed, “I have done something better and bigger for dad! We all know that dad likes to read anything and everything about Socrates, Churchill and Gandhiji. Since he can’t see well and spectacles give him headache, I trained a brown parrot that can recite the entire works of these great men. It took 10 communication trainers 10 months to teach the brown parrot. It was as expensive as buying a huge bungalow and the latest sports car. Dad has to spell out the book’s name or the chapter in a particular book, the brown parrot will recite it all for him.”
After a few days, each of the sons received a letter from their dad.
Eldest son got this note : “ The bungalow you gifted is so huge… but I live in one small room in the ground floor. Unfortunately, I have to clear the whole bungalow.”
Note to Middle son read as : “I like to walk to the nearby market everyday. So the car lies untouched in the garage.”
Youngest son got a note with the brightest message : “You have given what your dad likes a lot. The chicken was very, very tasty. Thank you.”
